Dietary
Management

CMPA can be managed by changing your baby's diet to remove cow's milk proteins. Once this happens an improvement in symptoms may be observed by parents within 2 to 4 weeks, however this may vary depending on your child's specific case. Your doctor will be able to provide more information on what to expect.

Specialty formulas

These are also called hypoallergenic (or low allergenic) formulas because the provoking proteins (that cause CMPA) have been removed or are broken down, so the body does not recognise them (pre-digested). There are two main types of hypoallergenic infant formula for children with CMPA. One is called an extensively hydrolyzed formula or eHF, and the other is an amino acid-based formula or AAF. Your healthcare professional will be able to advise you on the one that is the most suitable for your baby.
